| Pysanky
Pysanky, or Ukranian Easter eggs, made by Lynne Ellison, are on display at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street (at Elizabeth) in Fort Collins. They are in the main hallway near the church office, and can be seen on weekdays from 9-4 and of course on Sundays. Along with many finished eggs, the exhibit includes a fascinating step-by-step view of the process.
The egg itself symbolizes life, and the various designs have symbolic meanings too, which are explained in the exhibit. Traditionally, these art works were made as gifts for family and friends, including the village priest. They would even be placed under the family beehive, in the hens' nests, and in the mangers of the family's cows and horses, for good luck.
